Jase’s BBQ
Red Hook // 1.7

📸: @jasebbq

New York City barbecue is often characterized by the influence of individual chefs’ heritages. The flavors of Jase Franklyn’s homeland, Trinidad & Tobago, give his barbecue the kind of bite we keep coming back for, and he’s never afraid to pull off something unexpected. In 2022, Franklyn won Best Bite at Pig Island NYC with his tamarind sauce pulled pork on a tostada. His specialty, however, is barbecued pig tails, which received praise from Bizarre Foods host Andrew Zimmern at the New York City Wine & Food Festival back in October (🎥 watch the clip). He’s riding some serious momentum and we’re expecting big things out of Jase in 2023. Tap the Trini smoke below for all the info on his pop-up this weekend.

L’Attaché
Clinton Hill // 1.11-1.16

What’s the drop?
Parisian restaurant L’Attaché is taking over wine bar Prima Brooklyn for a week long residency where you can expect a modern spin on classic French cooking. This is your chance to have an iconic, ‘Emily in Paris’-esque main character moment sipping French wines and eating stellar bites from one of the hidden gems of Paris. Tap the French flag below for all the info on this exciting residency.

Essex Pearl Residency
Hudson Yards // Starting 1.5

What’s the drop?
Southeast Asian-influenced seafood hotspot Essex Pearl kicked off their residency at the Midnight Cafe inside the Midnight Theatre near Hudson Yards yesterday. Armed with dollar oysters that you can pair with roasted red chili or the Vietnamese condiment nuoc cham, it’s primed to become one of the hottest raw bar happy hours in the city, because these aren’t just any dollar oysters. Essex Pearl sources their seafood from Aquabest, which is renowned for having some of the freshest seafood in the city. During lunch time, their notorious Seafood Rolls will be available along with a raw bar selection. Tap the masks below for all the info.

Pica Pica
Clinton Hill // 1.10 & 1.11

What’s the drop?
Filipino pop-up Pica Pica by Chef Nadia Agsen will take over Rhodora Wine bar on Tuesday and Wednesday, serving comfort food to get you through the incoming chilly weather. Even if it turns out to be a muggy like this past week, leaving you feeling like a wet blanket, that’s all the better. Arroz caldo with ikura, saffron rice porridge, spicy lechon adobong, ginger clams, frog legs, and more will feel like a warm hug. Pica Pica was praised in the New York Times last year and seats are filling up fast. Tap the Filipino flag below to secure a reservation.

OKDONGSIK
Midtown // Through April

What’s the drop?
Seoul-based Chef Ok Dongsik is collabing with Hand Hospitality to bring his eponymous MICHELIN Bib Gourmand restaurant to New York City. Through April, they will be serving Pork Gomtang, a rice-based Korean soup with a slow-cooked clear broth brewed with meat and vegetables for a deep umami flavor. If a broth regiment is part of your New Year’s health cleanse, look no further. Tap the Korean flag below for all the info.
