The news has been a lot this week, and honestly, our thumbs need a break from all the doomscrolling. So let’s swap the phones in our hands for something hot, crispy, melty, or sweet — preferably all of the above. This weekend's 5 food pop-ups and drops won’t solve the world’s problems, but they'll deliver the kind of satisfaction no Instagram feed refresh ever could. Call it edible escapism — and frankly, the only headline worth paying attention to.
L’Orillon Bar de Quartier at Demo
Demo // 34 Carmine St, NYC // Sun 4.13
📸 @lorillon_bar_de_quartier
Straight from Paris for one night only, L’Orillon is taking over Demo’s kitchen and cellar with the kind of effortlessly cool energy that only the French can pull off. Expect inventive small plates, an impressive lineup of wines by the glass, and the kind of vibe that’ll transport you way further than your algorithm ever could. Walk-ins are welcome, but if your thumbs need a break from scrolling, use ‘em to make a reservation instead.
Solo Diner
Madeline’s // 113 Franklin St, BK // Sun 4.13
📸 @solodiner.nyc
If your feed's been full of chaos, cleanse your palate with a proper feast. Solo Diner is popping up for one night only with a Filipino menu that’s doing the absolute most (per usual) — Mushroom Sisig Toast, Longanisa Tacos, 7-Up Shrimp Skewers, Adobo Karaage, Bibingka, and more. And with Darwin Pornel on drinks, you’ll be sipping something as bold as what’s on your plate.
La Bicyclette Bakery x Entre Nous
Entre Nous // 39 Clifton Pl, BK // Sun 4.13
📸 @labicyclettebakery_nyc
Clinton Hill is getting a little extra French this Sunday with the official launch of La Bicyclette Bakery at Entre Nous. From 12–3pm, swing by for an afternoon of très chic sandwiches (four options, one veg) and plenty of wine by the glass or bottle. No resy needed — just walk up, order at the counter, and pretend you’re in Paris. Can’t make it midday? La Bicyclette’s regular service runs 8am–12pm, and Entre Nous resumes at 3pm. Basically, you’ve got options — très many.
Salted Chai Caramel
Fan Fan Doughnuts // 448 Lafayette Ave, BK // Thru Tues 3.15
📸 @fanfandoughnuts
Fan Fan Doughnuts founder Fany Gerson and Third Culture Kitchen author Zaynab Issa are running it back with a collab that deserves an encore. Their Salted Chai Caramel Doughnut — originally created to celebrate Eid al-Fitr — is making a limited-time return, and it’s just as layered, warm, and craveable as ever. You’ve got until Tuesday to get your hands on this - the kind of content you actually want to consume.
Beef Rendang Wrap
The Sandwich Board // 115 Eldridge St, NYC // Thru Sun 4.13 or till sold out
📸 @thesandwichboardnyc
The Sandwich Board keeps redefining what fits between two slices, and this week’s special is proof they’re not running out of ideas anytime soon. Malaysian beef stew gets folded up with Mama Lam’s Curry Sauce, sticky rice, coconut, scallion, and cucumber, then toasted to golden perfection. It's part sandwich, part rice plate, all genius. In a week full of noise, this sandwich is saying all the right things.
