The Za Report
Gowanus // 2.4
Chef Miriam Weiskind is thinking outside the pizza box for her pop-up this Saturday. She’s taking the ingredients from one of her favorite foods, pork & chive dumplings, and elegantly scattering them on her three cheese Neapolitan pies that sell out almost every week. Citrus and ginger-seasoned ground pork, hot ají picante, all the chives, and a drizzle of sweet soy chili glaze will top this pie to ring in the year of the rabbit in style. Ice Cream for Breakfast Day
Cobble Hill // 2.4
Malai Ice Cream is bringing a ‘National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day’ celebration to Cobble Hill on Saturday with more familiar, but elevated breakfast treats to match, like orange fennel French toast paired with Turkish coffee ice cream or ghughra buns filled with almonds, cashews, ghee, cardamom and sugar topped with masala chai ice cream. With temperatures forecasted at a high of 10°F, this celebration offers a chance to immerse in ice cream terroir and be one with your surroundings, achieving ultimate zen. Yara Herrera Pop-Up
Bed-Stuy // 2.6
Chef Yara Herrera of Bushwick tortilleria and restaurant Sobre Masa is bringing a Mexican-inspired global 4-course prix fixe menu to Winona’s on Monday. Hominy beans will be reintroduced with white miso. Gnocchi’s nuanced situation will be pine nuts and chile de arbol. Arctic char crudo will meet epazote tempura and chipotle ponzu. You might not find a more unique menu in the five boroughs this week. Tap the handshake below for all the info.
Patikim
Bed-Stuy // 2.6 & 2.13
Chef Erika Costa’s mastery of Filipino flavors is a great reason to travel to rural Brooklyn and wait in a line that wraps around the block, but now she’ll be at Ostudio the next two Mondays for dinner service. No waiting in line will be necessary. Her famous honey calamansi ribs will be on the menu, joined by mushroom arroz caldo, kare kare noodle salad, and ginataang kalabasa with crispy pork belly. To sweeten the deal even more, Butterboy Baking Co. will be bringing an ube flan dessert. Tap the Filipino flag below for all the info.
Daily Patty Melt
West Village / Union Square
Daily Provisions dropped their take on the patty melt fresh out of Danny Meyer’s lab last Thursday at the West Village location, and it was such a hit that they put it on the menu for good. If you aren’t in that vicinity, have no fear, because it’s dropping at Union Square starting this Thursday for dinner only. With ground beef, carmelized onions, and melty cheese served on two slices of bread rather than a whole bun, it’s almost like a guilt-free cheeseburger 😉 tap the melting man below for all the info.
