Must-Eat Food Pop-Ups & Drops in NYC 10.28-11.4
Everybody is going to be flying high on sugar, pounding candy this weekend - and we will gladly argue the rank order of different Halloween candies (Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are #1 obvi). But Halloween isn’t just about candy. There are plenty of delicious bites meant for adult tastebuds this week too! Chefs in NYC are cooking up some extra spooky concepts that can’t be missed. So we put together a list of five pop-ups and dish drops for your inner goblin to gobble up.
As always, this article is just a small taste of the pop-ups and drops you can find in the 8it app. Hit the green button at the bottom of this article to explore the 8it app.
Ghost Pepper Mumbo Wings
Park Slope // Available this week
Pecking House makes the Maybach of fried chicken and they’re dipping their toes into the wing game this week with this special drop. Inspired by a certain mega corporation according to an IG post, the sauce coating these wings is tangy, sweet, savory and spicy. But this isn’t your local pub saying their wings are spicy, this is Pecking House, Brooklyn’s very own harbingers of spice. These wings might just leave you with watery eyes and a runny nose, looking like you’ve seen a ghost, when really, you just ate one. Find all the info in the 🧨 Drops category on the 8it app.
Holy Tshili Spicy Everything Crispy Ramen Doughnut
West Village // 10.27-10.29
Although the Doughnut Project’s doughnut shapeshifters have turned doughnuts into bacon egg and cheeses and bowls of chips and guac before, we couldn’t have anticipated the sorcery it took to hybridize a doughnut and ramen. But with the assistance of a fellow woman-owned business, Holy Shili, they’ve topped a doughnut with chili-infused cream cheese glaze, everything chili crunch, and crispy ramen. Break free from your morning bagel routine and spook your tastebuds with this special drop. Find all the info in the 🧨 Drops category on the 8it app.
Dia De Los Muertos Dinner
Bed-Stuy // 11.1
Chef Natalie Hernandez of Boca Santa, which was a Tex-Mex restaurant in Bed-Stuy, is hosting a Dia De Los Muertos dinner at Stonefruit Espresso + Kitchen. She’s known for killer vegetarian options and irresistible quesadillas on freshly pressed blue corn tortillas, and this five-course tasting menu will be heavy on maize. It’s safe to say all who attend will be children of the corn. Find all the info and RSVP in the 💥 Pop-ups category on the 8it app.
DILA
Clinton Hill // 10.28
DILA by chef LJ Almendras, formerly of Rolo’s and Monsieur Vo, is popping up at Maya Congee this weekend for a Filipino Pork Roast. For this pop-up, Almendras will make pork belly lechon roasted in lemongrass, scallions and garlic. The corpse of a hog will lay to rest over a bed of congee at this ticketed dinner with seatings at 5, 6 and 7PM. Find all the info and reserve your spot with the 💥 Pop-ups category on the 8it app.
