Earlier this month, they introduced dairy-free delight to Rivington Street, elevating the soft serve game with their new concept Bananas. Starting Friday May 26, Morgenstern’s x Ernesto’s Heladeria will operate in front of Ernesto’s through the summer. Chefs Ryan Bartlow and Nicholas Morgenstern have created a basque-inspired menu for the pop-up featuring basque cheesecake, caramel flan, egg custard flavors, and more. On an otherwise miserable Saturday last week when the weather felt more like hurricane season than late Spring, KARLSBALLS Takoyaki came to the rescue at Japan Fes with warm doughy pillows stuffed with tender octopus. Despite the torrential downpour, a quick transfer from the takoyaki tent to under an umbrella allowed these morsels of crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside delight, to avoid the drenching and maintain their warming quality. KARLSBALLS is a top source for traditional takoyaki in NYC. Devoutly committed to the craft, their balls are never pre-frozen, and are always made in front of you on the takoyaki grill. Watching them masterfully spinning the takoyaki with chopsticks to cook them evenly throughout is an artful sight to behold while you wait. There are two KARLSBALLS pop-ups coming up this weekend, just north of Washington Square Park on Sunday and on Broadway in Astoria on Monday. Find all the details for both in the đź’Ą Pop-ups category on the 8it app.
