NYCWFF Dinner with Marcus Samuelsson and Lexis Gonzalez
Harlem // 10.14

What’s the drop?
New York’s king of soul food — Celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelsson of Red Rooster is teaming up with Chef Lexis Gonzalez of Lady Lexis Kitchen and “Chopped Sweets” to bring you a dinner at Samuelsson’s speakeasy Ginny’s Supper Club to kick off the New York City Wine & Food Festival. Expect Samuelsson’s singature soul food — his famous Yardbird fried chicken is bound to be involved in some way, and Gonzalez’s Boricua Geechee Cuisine, a fusion of her Puerto Rican and southern roots.

Why should you go?
This dinner features two chefs whose careers so far are wonderfully juxtaposed. Samuelsson is a household name and restaurant owner. Gonzalez came from selling sweets outside her building and evolved her operation into a full-service catering company with the help of her mother; her ultimate goal is to own a brick and mortar herself. There are a number of Intimate Dinners happening this weekend as part of NYCWFF but this may be the pick of the bunch. Tap the rooster below for all the info.

What’s the drop?
Chef Alan Delgado, formerly of MICHELIN-starred Oxomoco, is in residency at Ostudio showcasing his unconventional take on Mexican cuisine. His rotating menu has featured steak tartare, aguachile, roasted prawns, coconut braised chicken, and more.

Why should you go?
This is a chance to try Delgado’s visionary take on Mexican cuisine that made him a “Chopped” champion and an authority on all things breakfast burrito. Getting a glimpse of his recipe research and development in action at Ostudio is a can’t-miss opportunity. Tap the burrito below for all the info.

Still Smokin’ Pop-up
East Williamsburg // 10.17

What’s the drop?
Chefs Anthony Sousa (formerly of Eleven Madison Park and Chez Ma Tante) and Conner Updegrave (formerly of Blanca) will collab for this pop-up party featuring an array of skewers. Prawns, winter squash, jerk chicken, mackerel, and more will be smokin’ over charcoal to give you a lingering taste of summer well into fall.

Why should you go?
This is the summer revival you’ve been needing since you realized you can’t strut to the farmer’s market in a tank top anymore. Speaking of farmer’s markets, this pop-up will feature late-season produce like a cabbage salad with apple and hazelnut, and Jimmy Nardello peppers in yuzu kosho vinaigrette. Jimmy, your peppers are wonderful, sir. Tap the smoke below for all the info on this pop-up.

Note Dublin x Contra
LES // 10.15

What’s the drop?
According to The Guardian’s restaurant critic and author of Wasted Calories and Ruined Nights, Jay Rayner, Note is the place to eat in Dublin right now. For one night only, Note will collab with MICHELIN-starred Contra for a six course tasting menu in NYC. Expect the expertly-cooked meats Note is known for in tandem with the modern panache that has made Contra a New York institution.

Why should you go?
This cross-the-pond collaboration is certain to be a culinary spectacle. Contra and Note are two of the most well-respected restaurants in their respective global cities. Don’t skip out on this world-class collaboration. Tap the Irish flag below for all the info.

Infatuation Eeeeeatscon

An absolutely electric lineup of soul-satisfying eateries from New York City and beyond came to Forrest Hills Stadium last Saturday for Infatuation Eeeeeatscon and we are truly sorry if you missed out. As if eating Pecking House, Taqueria Ramirez, Bark Barbecue, and Sally’s Apizza all in one day wasn’t enough, personalities like Martha Stewart and Bun B were in attendance for panel discussions about the food industry. The food was flowing and for one moment, waiting in line for Forsyth Fire Escape as a friend brought you a Cuban Sandwich from Miami’s Sanguich, everything seemed right with the world. Of course, you can still go to all of these restaurants individually, and you can find them on 8it.
